A close one at Raceway Park

Travis Sauter was on track once again Sunday August 12th at Raceway Park in Shakopee, MN, for the ASA Midwest Tour event. After posting the 5th fastest time in practice, Travis qualified a disappointing 13th. Luckily the inversion would line Travis up on the pole position for the 100 lap feature. Travis got off to a good start and jumped to the early lead and would quickly stretch it out and ride a few car lengths ahead of the field for the first half of the race. A series of mid-race cautions shortened his lead, but every restart Travis would maintain his lead. As the race approached three quarters distance the car started to become tight in the center of the corner, allowing the second place car to inch to his bumper. At lap 85 contact from behind sent Travis spining out of the lead position. He restarted at the tail of the field and finished the event in 17th position after leading the most laps. "We knew there were very few cars that were better than us here tonight, if any, but once again we couldn't get a good finish. The 77 car was probably better than us toward the end, but I wish he could have raced me cleaner. He was never along side me or anything, he pretty much drove into the corner and hit me square in the tail and took me out. We let an easy top 3 finish slip away. We have pretty much experienced everything that can happen this year, now we should be ready to win." Travis will head to the Milwaukee Mile on August 25th to race in the Governers Cup 150 ASA Late Model Series event.
