Madison Race Report

Travis Sauter finished 19th in the ASA Midwest Tour race at Madison International Speedway on May 4th. Travis qualified 3rd and after the invert would start the feature in 9th position. He would move toward the front of the pack, but on lap 84 contact with another car while racing for 2nd would force Travis to the rear of the field. He charged back through the field to 7th place, but but contact again on the final lap would send him spinning through the infield and to a 19th place finish.

"I think that would be the definition of a frustrating night. I believe we had the best car, especially on long runs. Obviously I didn't mean to get into the 39 car, he was tight and had to stop to get it to turn and I was right there. I hate that it happened, especially so close to the front of the field and the the end of the race. Nevertheless we came back through there pretty well, I dont know what happened on the last lap. I got a good run off of turn 2 and next thing I knew I was backwards. I'm not really upset about the contact, that happens in racing, its just really frustrating when you have a car that good and you finish 19th. The good news is the car has been fast at both races, we just need to finish better. I'll work on that at Jefferson."
