Madison Race Report

Travis raced the ASA Midwest Tour Joe Shear 136 at Madison International Speedway on May 3rd. The team fought steering troubles throughout practice resulting in limited track time. Travis qualified 20th and wound up starting the event in 22nd. He climbed steadily through the field and was up to 7th at the lap 100 break. In the final 36 laps he was able to get to third before the checkered flag.

"The steering deal in practice hurt us a lot. We ended up only getting 3 runs in practice and we weren't ready to qualify. I knew the car would be fast for the race, but its hard to start that far back and contend for the win. The car really never fell off, and as everyone else started to slide around I really gained a ton of ground. If there would have been a caution when I got to 3rd maybe we couldhave raced for the win, but by the time I got there the top 2 were checked out. Not bad for the first race with a new car. The next race we run will probably be the reschduled Dells race on May 30. Thanks to Cranberry Creek Cranberries and B&B Racing Engines for all the help so far this year. We're on a tight budget this year, but we're off to a good start."
