Golden Sands Report

Travis raced the Detjens Memorial 100 WCS race at Golden Sands Speedway on July 31st. After qualifying 9th of the 36 cars on and, the invert would place him on the pole for the feature event. He took the lead on the start and led the first 5 laps before dropping to 4th. He later lost two more spots in lapped traffic and finshed a dissapointing 6th.

"I wish I could run that race over again, I'd do it a lot different. The car was good enough to win and I pretty much let it go too easy. The car was tight at the start so I ran a little higher thinking thats where I needed to be, but after I got passed I realized how I needed to drive it and I was faster than the cars that had just passed me. I wish I would have raced here in the last 3 years and I would have known what to do. I'm really dissapointed. I know it won't happen again. I'm really hungry for some wins now. I was before, but being that close really takes it up a notch. Thanks to Roberts Irrigation and Wisconsin River Cranberry for their help for this race. I'm not sure what the next race will be, but I want to race again soon so I can forget about this one."
