Oktoberfest Race Report
Travis Sauter picked up his first ASA Midwest Tour win on Sunday October 11th at the legendary Oktoberfest 100 at La Crosse Fairgrounds Speedway. He qualfied 8th of the 40 cars and started the event in 3rd place. He took the lead from his dad on lap 30 and never looked back. After running much of the race with a huge lead a bunch of late cautions put veteran Steve Carlson on Travis' bumper, but Travis held him off to score a victory in one of the most prestigous short track races in the country.
"That was awesome. I knew I would have a fast car, but you never know how races are going to play out. I knew Carlson would be coming so I wanted to get to the front quickly. I may have run the car too hard early because it got tight there at the end. This is my favorite event and I really wanted to be the first Sauter to win it. When you have my kind of racing luck you are just waiting for something to go wrong, but today was our day. Carlson made a run, but he would've had to wreck me to get by. I had enough left to hold him off. I'm really happy for all the people that help me. I have loyal sponsors and crew guys, and they all deserve to win a bunch more. We had a tough season, but everybody kept digging and it feels awesome."
