Travis ran the Oktoberfest 100 ARCA Midwest Tour race at La Crosse Fairgrounds Speedway in West Salem, WI on October 6th. He qualified 5th of the 45 cars on hand and started the feature in 6th. By lap 50 he was in 2nd place behind his uncle Johnny Sauter. The two of them would run away from the rest of the field, but contact between them on the last lap while battling for the win knocked them both to the rear of the field, handing the win to the third place car.
“That’s a race I will never forget. I had a great car, so did Johnny, it just unfortunate it ended that way. I was trying to get a run under him off turn 2 while using the lap car to break his momentum. I guess I misjudged the closing rate and made contact. Certainly in hindsight finishing 2nd would have been a better result than how it turned out, but I was trying to win the race and I made a mistake. With the way the rules are when you spin somebody out you get sent to the rear of the field, so obviously it was not intentional. It’s a tough deal, but sometimes you make mistakes when you are trying hard. I have a great race team and supporters and we will come back strong whenever our next race is. Thanks to Habelman Bros.
